Best known as the mother of Andy Murray, three-time Grand Slam tournament winner and Jamie Murray, seven-time Grand Slam doubles winner, Judy Murray OBE is an insightful keynote speaker. As a mental health advocate, she spreads her positive advice on emotional wellbeing to corporate and public functions, touring the country to improve the health of audiences.
Born in Stirlingshire, she spent her childhood playing both tennis and badminton because she didn't have a local indoor tennis court. As a player herself, Judy had a truly successful career with 64 titles and even a professional tour in 1976. With her quick feet and sharp decision making, she honed her style to take the court by storm. Judy graduated with a degree in French and Business Studies from the University of Edinburgh, before competing at the World Student Games for Great Britain.
She spent the 1980s as a member of the Broomhill Lawn Tennis and Squash club, even winning the Club Championships three times. As her professional tennis career came to a natural end, Judy turned her attention to coaching instead, starting with her sons who went on to great success. In 2011, she became one of the few female captains of the British Fed Cup team, a role in which she advocated for female representation in tennis. In celebration of her support for women in sport, Judy was appointed OBE in 2017.
As a mental health speaker, she promotes the importance of sport in emotional wellbeing. An advocate for positive workplace culture and supportive teamwork, Judy has dedicated her life to the tennis opportunities in the United Kingdom, especially Scotland. She is ideal for a wide range of events, thanks to her inspirational story and advice on emotional intelligence. As a mental health keynote speaker, Judy can inspire self-acceptance and encourage sport participation.
