Rhydian Roberts is a classically trained baritone with experience on the stage as well as the screen. As one of the UK’s most successful, classical crossover artists Rhydian has recorded platinum albums and performed in some of the most beloved musicals. Available through the Champions Music & Entertainment, Rhydian is an immense talent perfect as corporate or wedding entertainment. Born in Brecon, Wales, Rhydian had a strong heritage in music and singing beginning with his time as a boy soprano. He went on to win a place at the prestigious Royal Birmingham Conservatoire graduating with a first-class honours degree in Music.
While at the Conservatoire Rhydian auditioned for the CBSO Musical Director Sakari Oramo, winning several prized roles. The awards came early for this talented baritone. Rhydian won the Cecil Drew Oratorio Prize, Reginald Vincent English Song Prize, Mario Lanza Prize, and the esteemed Kathleen Ferrier Award. Rhydian secured a place at the Royal Academy of Music in London for postgraduate studies and even auditioned for The X Factor. He made it all the way to the final eventually coming runner-up, much to fans’ dismay. Such was the strength of his performances Celine Dion described him as ‘in a different league’ and ‘amazing’ while Simon Cowell exclaimed ‘He [Rhydian] stands out because he has an incredible voice’.
Simon Cowell offered the talented singer a recording contract with the release of his eponymous debut album in 2008. Rhydian went on to gain platinum status selling over 600,000 albums worldwide. A highlight of Rhydian’s career came after performing ‘Music of the Night’ at Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 60th Birthday Party in Hyde Park. HRH Prince Charles was in attendance and having heard Rhydian sing invited him to become a patron of The Prince’s Trust.
Rhydian’s sophomore album O Fortuna was produced by the legendary composer Karl Jenkins to rave reviews. Earning gold status Rhydian solidified his position as a household name and embarked on tours, musicals, and album releases. Rhydian’s stage résumé is equally as impressive, he has appeared in We Will Rock You, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Grease, Little Shop of Horrors as well as countless others.
