Richard Hadfield became a star overnight as one part of the nation’s favourite act on 2014’s Britain’s Got Talent, Collabro. The musical theatre act won the hottest talent contest on television and signed with Simon Cowell’s SYCO label before the group’s debut album, Stars, took to number one in the charts. Their success saw them tour the world and amass a huge following wherever they went, performing two sell-out tours at the Royal Albert Hall and Palladium.
After performing at the Royal Variety Performance and having shared the stage with legends such as Gregory Porter, Shirley Bassey and Alfie Boe, it was time for Richard to try something new - or more accurately, something old.
In 2016, Richard Hadfield decided to focus on his first love – jazz music. He embarked on a solo career, and his status as a star continued to grow. Richard quickly took to the stage at the Legendary Dean Street Live Jazz night alongside his new live band. The show sold-out and gained plaudits for its amazing intensity. Since then Richard has not looked back becoming a star jazz singer.
Richard is a natural live performer and holds a genuine distinction on stage. His charismatic personality has seen him gain regular and prestigious opportunities to play at jazz venues like the Hippodrome and somewhere over the Atlantic in NYC’s West Village.
Richard has had a whirlwind five years, which have seen him take to the stage for theatre productions, including as Jean Valjean in one of the country’s leading youth theatre companies. He has shone in front of the camera on televised performances for the likes of the BBC, ITV and Sky. He has been interviewed on countless occasions for local and national radio stations, including Kiss and Heart. Preceding his BGT appearance, he featured in 2013 Simon Pegg film, The World’s End.
On his nights off from gigging, Richard transforms hits by music legends such as Michael Jackson and Rihanna into his own swing style. With fans keen to keep up-to-date with Richard’s latest tracks, he launched a popular YouTube channel, Swingfield, which regularly features his latest recordings as well as footage from his most recent performances. He has also begun to write his own songs, which is something he had grown to love. Richard’s passion and effortlessly rich and smooth vocal style has fuelled his progression towards becoming one of the leading lights in the music industry.
