Highlights of Glastonbury 2017

This time last year who would have guessed that Jeremy Corbyn, Johnny Depp and Stormzy would have all had major roles at one of the roles biggest music festivals. Welcome to the madcap world of Glastonbury and once again the 2017 edition didn’t disappoint. Once again, this year saw thousands of revellers descend on the muddy Somerset fields for a weekend of outstanding music.

Headliners this year saw Radiohead, Foo Fighters and Ed Sheeran take to the Pyramid stage and delight crowds. One of the greatest things about the Glastonbury festival is its ability to bring together all kinds of different musical genres and this year was no different. A particular highlight this year saw legendary Bee Gees singer and songwriter Barry Gibb perform dozens of hits from his back catalogue including favourites ‘night fever’ and ‘jive talkin.’

Also wowing crowds over the weekend was Katy Perry who made quite the entrance during her set on the Pyramid Stage when she took a break from performing the likes of ‘chained to the rhythm’ and ‘California Girls’ to engage in a spot of crowd surfing as she launched herself into the arms of the audience.

Saturday’s largest crowd before Dave Grohl’s Foo Fighters talk to the stage, was drawn by Craig David. After he performed he was bizarrely joined on stage by Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn who gave a speech before introducing American hip-hop group Run the Jewels. If this doesn’t demonstrate the madness of Glastonbury then nothing does.

This year’s festival also saw a whole host of A-listers don their wellies and enjoy the music. As well as actor Johnny Depp giving a talk, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie and Bradley Cooper were all spotted at the festival.

Last night saw Ed Sheeran close the show, with his grandad in attendance, he opened his set with his hit ‘castle on the hill’ much to the delight of the audience. Largely just performing with just his guitar and minus the extravagant lighting and sound effects Ed’s incredible vocals were perfect to conclude the proceedings.
