His working-class background in Manchester has shaped and formed the basis for much of his comedy material. His first job was as a glass collector in a local pub and it was there that he fell in love with comedy. Seeing the likes of Peter Kay, Eddie Izzard and Johnny Vegas perform at the venue he decided this was a career he wanted to pursue and was encouraged to study a diploma in media and performance at the University of Salford.
Once he graduated from university Jason began touring with his stand-up comedy and his first UK tour, Turning into my Dad was extremely successful. He also ventured into acting with small roles in Coronation Street and Emmerdale. It was his role as a team captain on panel show 8 Out of 10 Cats that really brought Jason into the public eye.
Spending three years on the show, Jason became a big hit and has since appeared on a wide range of other shows including Would I Lie to You?, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, A League of Their Own and QI. As well as frequently appearing on panel shows he has also presented several prime-time programmes including Show me the Funny, A Question of Sport: Super Saturday, Sunday Night at the Palladium, The One Show, Bigheads and What Would Your Kid Do?
Also a fantastic actor it is not only comedy roles that he has flourished in appearing in dramas including Ordinary Lies, Ripper Street and Shameless. He has also appeared in stage shows Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Sweeney Todd. Jason has recently embarked on his latest UK comedy tour, Muddle Class, which once again is sure to be a huge success.
