As soon as Kate Nash's full-length debut album, Made of Bricks, was released, it rose to the very top of the domestic charts. Since then, Kate has continued to build upon an already impressive list of popular musical releases.
Following her graduation from the BRIT School, Kate began her career in the music industry back in 2005. Her debut single, Caroline’s a Victim / Birds, was released through Moshi Moshi Records. Commercially speaking, Kate’s debut single was a great success, soon calling for a repress of the original release. The single’s accompanying video soon brought further attention to the release, making its television appearances on MTV2.
The release of Kate’s debut album, Made of Bricks, soon brought her further success. Following the release, the album quickly topped the UK album charts. As a result, Kate began to make appearances at many of the country’s biggest and best-known stages, including performances at Glastonbury, T in The Park, Latitude and Electric Gardens. A further television appearance soon followed suit, having performed on Jools Holland’s iconic Later… with Jools Holland.
Having embarked on a tour of North America, Kate’s second studio album My Best Friend Is You was released in 2010. Always keen to further develop her sound, Kate’s second studio album represented a departure from the sound of her first release. In this, Kate was heavily influenced by a wide variety of different sounds, incorporating elements from Motown and No wave into an already colourful musical repertoire.
During the years that followed, Kate released new material, including the extended-play Death Proof. In addition, she also took some of her first steps into the world of acting, fulfilling a minor role in Greetings from Tim Buckley. Not long after, Kate’s release of her third full-length album, Girl Talk, saw her further build upon her reputation as one of the most versatile UK singers.
Following the release of another extended-play, Agenda, Kate soon began working on the release of her fourth studio album, Yesterday Was Forever. Having gained a considerable fanbase around the world, Kate’s latest album was one of the most anticipated releases of the year.
Having proven herself fiercely dedicated to her craft, Kate Nash continues to be one of the most interesting English songwriters ever to move to the stage. As such, Kate’s unquestionable musical talent has ensured her future as one of the stars of British music.
