Lucy Kay is a decorated classical singer who rose to prominence following her incredible success as a competitor on Britain’s Got Talent 2014. After finishing the competition as the runner-up, Lucy went on to earn a recording contract with Sony Classical and a coveted joint tour with Britain’s Got Talent winners, Collabro. A graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Lucy is now a sought-after entertainer in musical theatre, aboard cruise ships and for any other manner of event where a showstopping vocalist is required!
After her audition at many of the UK’s most distinguished educational institutions for music, Lucy completed her studies at the Conservatoire of Scotland – under the careful teaching of Judith Howarth, a renowned coloratura-lyric soprano. Her time spent studying at the Conservatoire saw Lucy perform in countless productions, from The Turn of the Screw to Hansel and Gretel. Such training encouraged her to audition for the 8th series of Britain’s Got Talent, an audition in which she performed “Vissi D’arte” by Giacomo Puccini. Reaching the finals, after singing “Nella Fantasia” in her semi-final performance, Lucy finished in second place with her rendition of “Nessun Dorma”. Lucy’s debut album, Fantasia, reached an impressive 18th place on the Official Albums Chart and was No.1 on the Classical Albums Chart.
Success continued for Lucy, going on to perform for Prince Andrew and his family at a private dinner held at Windsor Castle for Children in Crisis. She was also honoured to perform with Her Majesty’s Royal Marines band to produce a rendition of Flower of Scotland in celebration of the 350th Anniversary of the Royal Navy. Another notable success of Lucy’s includes performing with Andrea Bocelli on his UK Arena Tour and performing alongside Aled Jones, Katherine Jenkins and Gregory Porter in the Big Sing at the Royal Albert Hall, honoured to perform alongside some of the most iconic performers in commercial opera. Lucy has also forged a reputation in the field of musical theatre, cast as the Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat and on the West End as Carmen in TriOperas. Lucy’s musical theatre work proves her versatility as a performer, emphasised by her nomination for Best Emerging Actress at the IARA Awards.
