Lucy Spraggan is a British singer-songwriter whose career began in her teens, performing original material at open mic nights and acoustic gigs in her hometown. Her gift for storytelling and lyrical honesty quickly gained attention, leading to a runner-up spot in the national Live and Unsigned competition in 2011. This early success led to festival appearances and a music video shoot, paving the way for her breakthrough the following year.
In 2012, Lucy made headlines with her audition on The X Factor, performing her original song "Last Night." She became the first contestant in the show’s history to chart in the UK Top 40 with both a single and an album before the live shows aired. Her independently released debut album Top Room at the Zoo gained traction, followed by her major-label debut Join the Club, which entered the UK Albums Chart at number 7. Her sixth studio album, Choices, released in 2021, reached number 5, solidifying her reputation as one of the most consistent artists to emerge from the show.
Over her career, Lucy has sold more than 150,000 albums and accumulated over 210 million Spotify streams, with 440,000 monthly listeners. In 2017, she became the only X Factor alum to perform a full set at the Glastonbury Festival. Known for blending acoustic pop, folk, and indie, her songs often address themes such as mental health, resilience, identity, and recovery. Her influence was further recognised when she was named Musician of the Year at the 2022 DIVA Awards for her LGBTQ+ advocacy.
Lucy now operates independently under her own label, CTRL Records, while holding a publishing deal with Syco Music. This creative freedom allows her to remain authentic and deeply connected to her audience through her music and activism. She also campaigns for better support for reality TV contestants, drawing on her personal experiences to drive positive change in the industry.
In 2023, Lucy released her memoir Process, which debuted at number two on the Sunday Times bestseller list and sold over 15,000 copies. The book details her life journey, from childhood to fame and personal healing. A compelling live performer, Lucy is a fantastic choice for festivals, corporate events, private parties, and LGBTQ+ celebrations. Her soulful voice, authentic storytelling, and uplifting presence make her a standout act.
