Born in the picturesque coastal town of Varazze in Liguria, Italy, Maurizio was immersed in music from an early age. Raised in a classical environment, he studied piano and percussion at the prestigious Niccolò Paganini Conservatory in Genoa before further refining his craft at the Conservatory of Versailles in Paris. He began his professional career as a percussionist, performing with leading orchestras and opera houses including the Sanremo Symphony Orchestra, the RAI Radiotelevisione Italiana Orchestra in Milan and the Orchestra of Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa. His outstanding musicianship soon led to collaborations with internationally celebrated artists such as Luciano Pavarotti, Mstislav Rostropovich, Gerry Mulligan, Salvatore Accardo and Krzysztof Penderecki.
Building upon his classical foundations, Maurizio expanded into light, contemporary and electronic music through his collaboration with his uncle, Franco Delfino, a prolific composer of more than 1,000 Italian popular songs. This creative partnership inspired numerous recording projects and broadened his artistic horizons, allowing him to develop a distinctive style that effortlessly bridges genres. Among the highlights of his career were exclusive private performances for Pope John Paul II at Castel Gandolfo, where he performed on two consecutive occasions.
