Best known for her 1989 UK Number one hit You'll Never Stop Me Loving You, Sonia is also recognised for representing the UK in the 1993 Eurovision Song Contest. Her debut single You'll Never Stop Me Loving You was released in June 1989 and peaked at number 1 on the UK Singles Chart for two weeks the following month. The hit was produced and composed by songwriting trio, Pete Waterman, Mike Stock and Matt Aitken. At the young age of eighteen Sonia became one of the youngest female British singers to achieve this feat with the single also topping the Irish chart and reaching the Top Ten of the US dance chart.
Sonia's certified gold debut album, Everybody Knows was released in April 1990 and peaked at number seven in the UK. Impressively all five singles released from the album became top twenty hits in the UK, Sonia became the first British solo female artist to achieve this. You've Got a Friend achieved Sonia her sixth top twenty hit which she recorded with the group Big Fun and went on to release it as a charity single for Child-line. Sonia did the nation proud in the 1993 Eurovision Song Contest where she represented United Kingdom singing Dean Collinson and Brian Teasdale composition Better the Devil You Know.
