The Farmers' Choir is a distinctive Scottish choir bringing together people from farming and rural communities through a shared passion for music. Formed in 2013, the choir has grown from what was originally intended to be a one-off performance into an established ensemble appearing at agricultural events, charity concerts, conferences and prestigious venues across Scotland. Members come from communities including Ayrshire, Berwick-upon-Tweed, Campbeltown, Dumfries and Galloway, Fife, Lanarkshire, Loch Lomond and Perthshire, creating a choir that represents rural communities from across Scotland and beyond.
The Farmers' Choir began following a call for past and present Young Farmers members to participate in the 75th anniversary concert of the Scottish Association of Young Farmers Clubs. On 30 November 2013, approximately 160 members came together to perform at Glasgow's OVO Hydro. What was expected to be a single celebratory appearance instead marked the beginning of an ongoing musical journey. In 2014, the choir performed at the UK Farmstay Conference at Dalmahoy Hotel, the SAYFC West Area Talent Spot at Glasgow's SEC Armadillo and made its first appearance at the Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh.
Since then, The Farmers' Choir has performed at an extensive range of events and venues. Appearances have included the NFU Conference in St Andrews, Lantra Awards ceremonies at DoubleTree by Hilton Dunblane Hydro, Perth Concert Hall, Edinburgh's Assembly Hall and The Hub, alongside regular performances at the Royal Highland Show. The choir has also staged concerts at Airdrie Town Hall, Lanark Memorial Hall, Easterbrook Hall, Motherwell Concert Hall and Troon Concert Hall. Its performances have supported organisations and causes including Ayrshire Hospice, Cancer Research UK, Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity, RSABI and the Royal Highland Education Trust.
Beyond its performances, The Farmers' Choir reflects the strong sense of community found throughout Scotland's agricultural sector. Participation has allowed members to renew longstanding friendships while creating new connections between people from different farming communities. This combination of authentic rural heritage, large-scale ensemble singing and genuine camaraderie gives the choir a distinctive identity. With experience spanning major arenas, agricultural shows, conferences and charity concerts, The Farmers' Choir provides uplifting live entertainment particularly suited to agricultural, rural, community and celebratory events.
