Val Wiseman is an award-winning British jazz solo artist with over half a century’s worth of experience in the music and show-business. Her warm, sincere vocals have made Val an icon in the jazz and swing industry. Since the age of 18, Val has progressed from a prodigious talent to the act of dazzling artistry that she displays today. The West Bromwich-born starlet joined a local jazz band, to begin her musical journey before becoming part of Monty Sunshine’s acclaimed band. She remained with this outfit for three years and also sang at clubs, concerts and on the radio with many other bands, including Alex Welsh, Humphrey Lyttelton and the Al Fairweather – Sandy Brown Allstars.
1986 brought a singalong with Eggy Ley’s Hot Shots as they graced the Birmingham International Jazz Festival. The performance resulted in headline slot the following year in a tribute to Billie Holiday. In recent times Val has cemented her legacy as one of the luminaries of the modern jazz scene. She has toured with various shows, including her sought-after Lady Sings the Blues. She has had significant success as a singer and songwriter, having recorded a number of albums and featured on many others, for such acts as King Pleasure and The Biscuit Boys, Sunshine, and the Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra.
She has performed up and down the country at some of the most popular venues and prestigious festivals. Val has proved hugely popular at jazz cafes and bars as a solo vocalist and with a live band and has made a name for herself as a favourite for corporate events, private parties and for wedding entertainment.
