Complete Madness are widely recognised as the UK’s number one tribute to Madness, faithfully recreating the sound, style and infectious energy of the original Nutty Boys. With their own official merchandise and a packed performance calendar, the band play across the country delivering high-octane ska and pop classics to audiences of all ages.
The band’s roots trace back to 1989, when the original group Beat The System was formed. In 1994, original members Mark Keegan and Derek Wood, who both remain with the band today, made the decision to evolve the project and rebrand as Complete Madness. This marked the beginning of their focused tribute journey, dedicated to celebrating one of Britain’s most iconic ska bands.
Over the years, the line-up strengthened with the addition of saxophonist and pianist Chris Halford, followed by keyboard and organ player Chris Collier in 1998. This expanded sound allowed Complete Madness to authentically recreate the full musical depth of Madness, from punchy brass riffs to lively keyboard melodies that define the band’s signature ska-pop style.
Complete Madness have performed at venues around the world, including army bases both in the UK and overseas, Butlins family and adult breaks, ferries, small cruises and major festivals such as the Cork Jazz Festival between 1996 and 2005, where they earned rave reviews. Having played well over 60 theatres in recent years, they continue to deliver a vibrant, crowd-pleasing live show that captures the spirit, humour and unstoppable energy of Madness.
