Internationally experienced oud/guitar and double bass duo performing Middle Eastern, Klezmer, Sephardic and Mediterranean music. Daphna Sadeh is world-class double bassist and composer. She has released four CDs on major UK and US labels. She has received commissions grants to compose Jazz, World music and crossover genres music. Daphna has performed internationally in Europe the Far East and USA. Knud Stüwe is a 'much in demand' oud player, guitarist and composer based in Bristol. Other bands include Bristol European Jazz Ensemble (BEJE), Nabra (North African), Brejeiro (choro), Mr. Dowlands Midnight and Instant Wit.
Varied repertoire with an Eastern/Jewish overall flavour including- Klezmer including “classics” such as “A Nacht in Gan Eden”, "Chosen Kalah Mazel Tov", "Der Heyser Bulgar", "Ot Azoy Medley" and the "Freilach Dance" as well as lesser-known pieces. - Sephardic and Hebrew songs such as “Donna, Donna”, Bashana Haba’A, the ancient “Voyager Song” and many more. - Middle Eastern pieces both traditional and contemporary such as “Longa Riad”, Aziza, The Mozdok Train, Nikriz Sirto and more.
Plus various other pieces such as Tango by Astor Piazzolla (Chiquilin de Bachin), “Miserlou” a greek piece well known for appearing in Pulp Fiction, Jazz Standards such as “Gentle Rain” - Originals inspired by the styles mentioned above We like performing sets that include pieces from the various styles mentioned above, however, we could also offer either whole klezmer, Middle Eastern or Jazz set according to what the client would like. We would be able to include specific pieces if requested.
