Fred MacAulay is a Scottish comedian and radio presenter of great repute. He has had audiences in hysterics with his signature satirical and observational comedy styles. Fred covers current affairs, family life and his own glorious tales; the mishaps and the triumphs - all with intelligence and a dousing of sarcasm. Macaulay has been a popular comedian and familiar face in the circuit for 30 years.
He is known from such popular British television and radio programmes as They Think It’s All Over, Have I Got News For You, The Unbelievable Truth, QI, I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue, Mock The Week, Just A Minute and The News Quiz.
A much-loved regular at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for twenty-eight years, Fred is a brilliant stand-up comedian whose irreverent sense of humour makes him perfect for any private function or corporate events.
In 1988 Fred broke through as a comedian, playing host to small-town festivals and warm-up to big-name comedians such as Rory Bremner. In 1993 he became a full-time comedian and later gained significant fame. Fred co-hosted the McCoist and MacAulay television chat show with football legend Ally McCoist, interviewing Patrick Moore, Frank Bruno, Vanya Eadie and many more.
The comedian has also had major success with such TV programmes as Life According to Fred, Simply Fred, Scots on the Box and Hoots. Fred has toured in Australia, Spain, Iceland, Hong Kong and France as well as coast to coast in the USA, including a guest appearance on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.
More than just a comedian, after-dinner speaker and awards presenter, Fred is extremely bright having been an accountant in a previous career. He gained an MA in Accountancy and Jurisprudence from the University of Dundee and was awarded an honorary doctorate for the time that he was Rector there.
