Jenny Ryan is a well-known television personality, quizzer, and singer. She is best recognised for her role as an illustrious chaser on the hit ITV show The Chase. She first demonstrated her flair for quiz shows during her time as a student at the University of Leeds when she appeared on the popular BBC show University Challenge, where she played a major role in helping her team reach the semi-finals in 2003. Her next big appearance came in 2006 on the show Mastermind with her specialist subject being Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Having proven her talent as a quiz master, Jenny went on to appear in both series of Are You an Egghead. Following that she found great success on Only Connect when she won the third series in 2010 with her team The Gamblers. Furthermore, Jenny has made several appearances on Fifteen to One and Weakest Link, in addition to working as a QI Elf.
On the recommendation of the renowned quiz master Anne Hegerty, Jenny joined The Chase in 2015 and quickly established herself as a favourite on the show for her intelligence and wit. This earned her the nicknames The Vixen, The Bolton Brianiac and The Bolton Bombshell. In 2017 she appeared on Let’s Sing and Dance for Comic Relief alongside fellow chasers Anne Hegerty, Shaun Wallace, and Mark Labbet. With such an impressive team of quizzers, it was no surprise that they won the competition which they celebrated with a performance of the Wizard of Oz Medley.
In 2018, alongside Lucy Porter, Jenny launched Fingers On Buzzers a podcast show focusing on the themes of quizzes and game shows. Moreover, Jenny made an appearance on Celebrity MasterChef in 2019 and during the same year appeared on The X Factor Celebrity. Her vocals and performance were exceptional and completely won the nation over which saw her reach the finals to come in third place.
