Kerry Ellis is a pop singer who is also known as the Lady of West End Musicals, having performed many notable roles such as Nancy in Oliver, Eliza Doolittle’s My Fair Lady, Ellen in Miss Saigon and Fantine in Les Misérables. Moreover, she was the first British Elphaba in the West End and went on to perform the role on Broadway, winning the Audience Award for Favourite Female Breakthrough. In addition, to being the originator of the role of Meat in Queen’s, We Will Rock You, Kerry collaborated with the legendary guitarist Brian May to release her CD Wicked in Rock.
The CD was very well received and caught the attention of Universal Decca which led to the studio signing Kerry as a solo recording artist. In 2010, she released her debut album Anthem which climbed to number 15 on the UK Album Charts and made it to number ten on the UK Pop Club Charts. The popularity of the album led to a major tour throughout 2011 which kicked off at the Royal Albert Hall. Kerry went on to perform internationally to promote the album and has performed at prestigious venues and events including Royal Variety Performance, Laurence Olivier Awards, Henley Festival, and the Queen’s Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace among others.
Possessing incredibly powerful vocals, Kerry was invited to sing the National Anthem for the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium. Other notable performances have included the role of Svetlana which Kerry gained critical acclaim for during her performance at the Royal Albert Hall opposite Idina Menzel and Josh Groban. This is in addition to Thank You For The Music, BBC Radio 2 ABBA concert in Hyde Park, Night of 1000 Voices, The Festival of Remembrance, and she Headlined the BBC Proms in the Park.
In 2013 Kerry performed her first solo concert at the London Palladium, experiencing great success which initiated 13 performances around the UK. She went on to replace Nicole Scherzinger as Grizabella in Cats and alongside Brian May, she performed for 12,000 people in Verona Italy. Presently, Kerry has a radio show on Encore Radio, and she recently celebrated her 20th-anniversary solo tour with a new band and new music from Brian May and Frank Wildhorn.
