Alesha Dixon is a multi-talented entertainer who is widely cherished by the British public. Alesha has had considerable success as a solo singer after making her name as one part of the R&B girl band Mis-Teeq where she was the band’s lead MC. Dixon signed to Polydor Records and recorded albums Lipstick and Knockdown. In 2007, she won the BBC’s hit show, Strictly Come Dancing and contrary to her reservations before the show, she was an overwhelming success as she earned the highest average score ever recorded on the show. Her Strictly win thrust Alesha Dixon into the centre of a bidding war for her talent. This led to a successful comeback which included her signing to Asylum Records, owned by the Warner Music Group.
Dixon then released her second album, entitled The Alesha Show, which received platinum certification from the BPI in the UK and spawned four singles, including The Boy Does Nothing and Breathe Slow, the latter of which became her highest charting single and earned her a Brit Award nomination. In September of 2009, Dixon became a judge on the BBC’s seventh series of Strictly Come Dancing, replacing Arlene Phillips. After a successful first series for Dixon, she returned for the eighth series of Strictly Come Dancing and released her third studio album, The Entertainer.
In January of 2012, shortly after completing the ninth series of Strictly Come Dancing and following her third year as a judge, Dixon left the BBC and became one of four Britain’s Got Talent judges in the ITV hit show.
