Levi Roots is one of the most exciting exports of the British television programme Dragons' Den. He has since gone on to become a celebrity chef, entrepreneur and television personality as well as proving a hugely popular reggae musician and celebrity DJ. With a genuine talent and infectious energy, Levi has played himself into the hearts of millions of Brits, becoming one of the most original performers in the country. Levi is originally from a small village in Clarendon, Jamaica where he helped his grandmother to cook from a young age. He learned the secrets behind fusions of Caribbean flavours.
He also discovered his passion for music at the church his grandmother sung at. The two passions have proved the bedrock to Levi’s success. It is perhaps Levi’s passion for cooking and for music that made him an overnight success story.
Levi serenaded the dragon’s with song and his outright honesty, on the way to getting an investment from the judges. After gaining widespread fame for his appearance on the UK television programme Dragons' Den, he gained £50,000 funding for his Reggae Reggae Sauce. His and vibe resonated with viewers around the country and Levi Roots quickly became a master in roots, reggae and the culinary arts. His sauce cleared yearly targets in a matter of days and has become one of the market leaders of BBQ and hot sauce. Levi is now a celebrity in the UK and alongside his ability to bring his own material to concerts, with his guitar and vocal talent, Levi also offers his services as a party DJ.
Levi has performed with James Brown and Maxi Priest and was nominated for a Best Reggae Act MOBO award in 1998. He was a friend of Bob Marley when the superstar resided in the UK and performed Happy Birthday Mr. President for Nelson Mandela in 1996 on his trip to Brixton. Levi Roots is a British musical, culinary and media icon and is considered one of the leading lights on the British reggae music scene. His live performance is a delight to witness and can impress even the toughest of crowds.
