Marcus' powerful vocal abilities and enviable stage presence eventually saw him through to the show’s final stages, narrowly missing out on the winning position to the all-girl band Little Mix.
Before featuring on The X Factor, Marcus had already been involved in music. He was a prominent member of Eton Road, a five-piece boy band who had risen to fame on The X Factor several years earlier. When one of the band’s leading members dropped out, Marcus stepped in to fill the void, bringing his own musical abilities to the group.
Several years later, Marcus came to audition on the eighth series of The X Factor as a solo act. His vast musical repertoire and incredible vocal skills blew viewers away across the nation, performing iconic songs like Stevie Wonder’s Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours, Adele’s Rolling in the Deep, Rihanna’s Russian Roulette, Queen’s Another One Bites The Dust and Lenny Kravitz’ Are You Gonna Go My Way. In addition, Marcus’ wonderful vocal abilities saw him hold his own in a duet with the legendary Gary Barlow, who would act as his mentor throughout the show. Earning himself a place as a runner-up on the show, Marcus continued to cement himself as one of the most popular UK singers around.
Following his departure from The X Factor, Marcus signed a record deal and began work on his long-awaited debut single. His very first single, a cover of The White Stripes’ Seven Nation Army, saw him achieve a top ten spot in the British charts. Not long after, Marcus released his debut studio album, Marcus Collins. Alongside his cover of Seven Nation Army, the album also produced a new single, Mercy. The album brought Marcus his first taste of commercial success, selling almost 25,000 copies in the first week.
Following in the footsteps of many famous British singers, Marcus has also branched into a number of other creative areas. Finding success performing on the theatre stages, he played Seaweed Stubbs in the British tour of the iconic musical Hairspray. Excelling amongst the Hairspray musical cast, his natural stage presence has seen him entertain audiences wherever he goes.
As a multi-talented performer, Marcus Collins continues to carve out a successful career in the public eye. Enjoying vast popularity as entertainment for corporate events and music venues, his bright future in the world of music is guaranteed.
