Matt Richardson is a British stand-up comedian best known for being the host of The X Factor spinoff show The Xtra Factor. From an early age, Matt knew his future was in comedy. He started doing stand-up in 2009 when he was just 18 years old. After getting into the comedy groove and building experience, he started gigging regularly in February 2010, going from strength to strength and appearing in the finals of So You Think You’re Funny and the Chortle Student Comedian of the Year. Within just 18 months, Matt was ready to take the decisive and defining step of leaving university and day job behind to become a professional comedian, at the tender age of 20.
Matt’s first solo show, Hometown Hero, won Best New Show at the 2012 Leicester Comedy Festival, marking him out as a star for the future. His upward trajectory then received a huge boost when, at just 22, he became the co-host of The Xtra Factor on ITV2 alongside Caroline Flack, propelling him into the public eye. Matt also appeared on shows like Sweat the Small Stuff, Celebrity Juice, Nevermind The Buzzcocks, Up Late With Rylan, The Chase: Celebrity Special and The Chris Ramsey Show all while taking his Hometown Hero show across a 54-date UK tour which went on from September 2013 to June 2014 and his Slash tour in 2017.
If that wasn’t enough of a workload for the industrious young Matt, he also appeared as a panellist on Viral Tap for ITV2 and Big Brother’s Bit on the Side on Channel 5 in 2015. He has had significant success as a television presenter since, with ITV2’s Pampered Pooches: Hollywood and Meet the Family Guys. He has also had success with Celebrity Haunted Hotel on channel W as a presenter and co-presenter alongside Christine Lampard.
The stand-up comedian, television presenter and host has proved perfect for various events, including for corporate entertainment, radio and television entertainment. He has performed for some major corporate clients, at the world’s most prestigious comedy festivals including several appearances at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Endearing himself to an audience through his quick wit and comic timing, as well as his charm offensive, Matt offers a groundbreaking show to ramp-up excitement. With red-hot jokes at the very heart of it, Matt's hit show is unmissable.
