Michelle McKenna, known for Platnum, is a dynamic and talented urban dance vocalist from Manchester whose distinctive voice and energy have made her a staple of the UK dance scene. Originally part of the group, Platnum, she gained nationwide fame with the chart-topping 2008 hit What’s It Gonna Be alongside H “Two” O. Today, Michelle performs solo, delivering high-energy sets that blend reimagined old-school bangers with her own infectious club tracks. With a proven track record of chart success, live performance experience, and her latest venture, Attitude which launched in 2024, she is the ideal act for promoters and venues seeking a vibrant performer who knows how to light up the dancefloor.
Michelle's journey began in 2004 when she helped form Platnum for a local talent competition, Urban Superstars. Despite not winning, the group’s entry track, Over the Heartache, quickly caught the attention of UK Bassline insiders. The remix by DJ Jamie Duggan won Bassline Heaven’s Tune of the Year in 2006 and was released on vinyl via Nocturnal Records. From there, Platnum became a name to watch, especially after teaming up with top-tier DJs and producers such as Jamie Duggan, DJ Q, Virgo, Nastee Boi, and H “Two” O. Their breakthrough came with What’s It Gonna Be, which climbed to number two in the UK Singles Chart, firmly placing them in the national spotlight.
Following the success of What’s It Gonna Be, Platnum released a follow-up single, Love Shy (Thinking About You) in September 2008 and began work on their debut album. Michelle has since launched a successful solo career, performing a mix of nostalgic UK garage classics and fresh new material. Notably, one of her tracks was recently featured as the main song in the film, Darkest Hour. In 2024, she co-launched the live brand, Attitude with Eddie Craig (Wideboys) and Sweet Female Attitude – a high-energy event series celebrating UK garage and club culture, further cementing her place as a force in the scene.
Michelle McKenna is not only an accomplished vocalist and performer but a pioneering figure in UK urban dance music. With her decades of experience, high-profile collaborations, and ongoing innovation in the club scene, she brings guaranteed crowd engagement and musical excellence. Her performances are uplifting, nostalgic, and unforgettable – a perfect booking for any promoter looking to energise a line-up.
