Samantha Mumba is an award-winning Irish born singer-songwriter who rose to fame at the age of just 17 with her hit single ‘Gotta Tell You’. Released in 2000, the song has now been listened to on Spotify more than 29 million times and has been listed in Billboard’s 100 Greatest Choruses of the 21st Century. She has also been a successful actress, making her debut in Steven Spielberg's ‘The Time Machine’ and has appeared in several Irish Independent films.
‘Gotta Tell You’ reached the Top 5 in Ireland, the UK and the US taking her profile worldwide and kickstarting her career. Her debut album, by the same name, was released in the year 2000 and reached the Top 10 in both the UK and Ireland, selling over 4.5 million copies around the world. After her quick ascension to fame, Samantha released her fifth single ‘I’m Right Here’ which entered both the UK and Irish charts. She had also had several features on ‘You Raise Me Up’ and released an extended play in 2001, containing covers of ‘White Christmas’ and ‘All I Want for Christmas’. Having shown talent as an actress, Samantha, alongside Aaron Carter, performed a concert for the Disney channel which was later released on DVD and has featured in an episode of ‘All That’, and in 2003, Samantha ventured into film for a second time.
After a sabbatical from performing, in 2013 Samantha made her comeback into the limelight and announced she would appear on the television show, ‘The Hit’. The song which she performed on the show which would subsequently be released on iTunes was titled ‘Somebody Like Me’ reached number 5 on the Irish Singles Chart. Having lost none of her talent in the 11 year period since her last hit single, Samantha once again firmly cemented her name as one of the ageless singers of our time. In 2020, after several appearances in British and Irish television, Samantha released two singles titled ‘Cool’ and ‘Process’. Over the years, Samantha has been nominated and won numerous awards including BMI Pop Awards for ‘Gotta Tell you’, Record of the Year for ‘Gotta Tell You’ and Teen Choice Breakout Artist Award to name a few.
