Self Esteem is the stage name of the up-and-coming singer-songwriter, Rebecca Lucy Taylor. A talented and unique individual, Self Esteem launched her solo music career a lot later than many but has quickly become one to watch as her talent shines through and is clear for all to see. Growing up, Self Esteem had been surrounded by music as her father was an amateur musician. Clearly her father’s influence was profound, and she too developed a passion for dance and making music. Before her studded solo career, Self Esteem was part of the band Slow Club. As a testament to her diverse talent, whilst in the band, Self Esteem was both a multi-instrumentalist, and the vocalist. She spent many years touring with the band and wowing the crowd, developing a stage presence like no other.
In the winter of 2016, Self Esteem decided she was going to do one last tour with the band before embarking on her solo career after gaining the confidence to do so from watching Ru Paul’s Drag Race. With her solo career came a new stage name, something which she had actually chosen some six years before finally going by it. Owing to her unique sound, and powerful vocals, Self Esteem has been nominated for numerous awards including the illustrious 2022 Brit Awards British Breakthrough Act and won the BBC Music Introducing Artist of the Year and Attitude Awards Music Awards. Self Esteem has released a total of three studio albums and numerous singles, cementing her name as one of the most popular artists of today.
