State of Quo was established in the mid-90s and is comprised of four highly talented musicians, personifying members of the original Status Quo band. With over two decades of performing across the UK and Europe, they have established themselves as the premier Status Quo tribute band. Members of the band include Paul Carr as rhythm guitarist and vocalist, Ian Hill as the lead guitarist and vocalist, Dave Owens as the drummer and Brian Smith on bass.
Formed in 1962, Status Quo is an English rock band established by Francis Rossi and Alan Lancaster. They have been active for over 60 years, releasing 100 singles and 33 albums, many of which were bestsellers. Furthermore, they have reached the Top 10 UK Singles Chart 22 times and the Top 40 Singles Chart 57 times. With over 60 chart hits in the UK, Status Quo has achieved more hits than any other rock band.
Status Quo first rose to prominence in 1972, when their album Piledriver reached number 5 on the UK Albums Chart. They have since achieved a career total of 25 UK top ten albums, including their most recent 2019 album Backbone. Since 2015, Status Quo has been part of only 50 artists to ever achieve more than 500 total weeks on the UK Albums Chart, making them one of the most successful UK bands of all time.
As the most popular Status Quo tribute, State of Quo have performed at several festivals all over the UK and Europe and recently headlined the Crossed Guitars Music Festival in Holland. Moreover, they supported John Rhino Edwards, Status Quo’s bass player, at the first international Status Quo Fan Club Convention.
