From their humble beginnings in the 60s to the packed arenas of their modern shows, this family of musicians have remained evergreen and exciting - amassing a huge following across the world.
Formed in 1964 by their father, Joe Jackson, The Jacksons consisted of the founding members Tito, Jackie, and Jermaine. Their younger brothers, Marlon and Michael soon joined the group and they started their career under the name The Jackson 5. After becoming an established act on the: “chitlin’ circuit” and winning several regional talent shows, the group were offered a contract at Steeltown Records. They recorded two singles, Big Boy and We Don’t Have to Be Over 21 with Michael singing the former.
The group continued to tour and perform, eventually landing a record deal with the famous Motown record company. After appearing with Diana Ross and releasing another single, their stardom skyrocketed with I Want You Back topping the Billboard Hot 100. They followed this up with three more number-one singles, ABC, The Love You Save, and I’ll Be There becoming the first recording act to have their first four singles reach the pinnacle of the Billboard Top 100.
Within one year of this feat, The Jackson 5 released four albums and became Motown’s most lucrative signing, taking the throne formerly held by The Supremes. Such was the success of the group that within two years they had written seven top ten singles.
By 1972 this family supergroup were on everyone’s lips and members began to experiment with solo careers. 1975 saw them leave Motown and sign with Epic Records where they settled on the name The Jacksons. Their self-titled debut album was certified gold with the likes of Enjoy Yourself and Show You the Way to Go impressing critics and fans alike.
After a less successful sophomore album entitled Goin’ Places, The Jacksons were back to their best with their third album Destiny. This album was their opus magnum and featured their best-selling Epic single, Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground). Written by Michael and Randy, this single helped The Jacksons sell over a million records. Their follow up album, Triumph, reached similar heights with the hits Can You Feel It and Lovely One.
Since then, The Jacksons have split their time between solo projects and group performances with their anniversary specials being a highlight. One of their most memorable performances saw all six of The Jacksons reunite at Madison Square Garden in 2001 to commemorate Michael Jackson’s solo career.
Age has not slowed down this pop sensation with the current line up of Tito, Jackie, Jermaine, and Marlon still touring the world, selling out shows wherever they go. These stalwarts of pop and icons of American music are the ultimate headline act. Ideal for all events; their timeless hits, years of performance experience, and universal appeal make this group the only choice in entertainment.
