The Prince Experience was first established in 2002, starting as a small local theatre production of Purple Rain. It has since evolved into a critically acclaimed show offering the country’s most dynamic Prince tribute band. Prince was regarded as one of the greatest musicians of his generation. He was best known for his flamboyant, androgynous persona and distinct high-pitched screams. Possessing a remarkable voice, Prince’s falsetto vocal range allowed him to successfully incorporate a range of music genres into his music including funk, R&B, rock, new wave, and soul among others. Also, a highly talented multi-instrumentalist, Prince had a preference for playing most of the instruments on his recordings, making him a remarkable record producer.
He pioneered the Minneapolis sound and is best known for his albums For You, Prince, Dirty Mind, Controversy and Purple Rain. Moreover, Purple Rain was turned into a film starring Prince, it spent 6 consecutive months on top of the Billboard 200 chart and won an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score. In 1987 he went on to release Sign o’ the Times, which is considered by many of his critics as his greatest work ever. Prince was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and has won many prestigious accolades including a Golden Globe, Grammy President Merit Award, and a UK Music Hall of Fame award to name a few.
