Union J is a famous English boy band from London renowned for their breakthrough on the X Factor and their subsequent pop success. Available for a host of events Union J are an incredible trio capable of astounding audiences of all ages with their sensational hits.
Originally known as Triple J, the band consisted of Josh Cuthbert, JJ Hamblett, and Jaymi Hensley. The group were introduced to one another through then manager Blair Dreelan of Alpha Dog Management. Cuthbert and Hensley both studied at the Sylvia Young Theatre School in Westminster while Hamblett was a successful jockey.
Triple J auditioned for the ninth series of The X Factor. They performed ‘We Found Love’ in the auditions proceeding to the boot camp. While at the judges’ house, they joined with guitarist and singer George Shelley to form Union J. As a four-piece their first song was an acoustic cover of Carly Rae Jepsen’s ‘Call Me Maybe’. Mentored by Louis Walsh they progressed all the way to the semi-finals eventually losing out to the public vote.
After The X Factor Union J signed a record deal with Sony Music’s subsidiary label RCA Records. Their debut single ‘Carry You’ was released in 2013 reaching number six on the UK singles charts. Their self-titled debut album was released alongside a national tour that saw them perform 18 times over two months. They released their second single ‘Beautiful Life’ a week before their album to quench fans’ thirst.
Union J left RCA to sign a deal with Epic Records the following year with their sophomore album’s first single, ‘Tonight (We Live Forever)’, being played on Capital FM. This single entered the iTunes Top 100 Chart through pre-sales alone, later debuting at number nine on the UK singles charts. The group also performed at Capital FM’s Summertime Ball.
Union J’s second album entitled You Got It All- The Album was released in December of 2014 charting well in the UK. After this success, Union J were honoured to be selected as the main support act for The Vamps’ arena tour of the UK and Ireland.
Shelley eventually left the band with the original trio still touring to date. Available for corporate events, club nights, music festivals, and other celebrations they are an unmissable pop act worthy of any stage.
