In 2016, Richard auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent. Soaring through to the finals, he combined his two loves, the military and magic, to bring a tear to the judges’ eyes, as Richard concluded the performance with a patriotic celebration of British heroism. Named the first magician to win Britain’s Got Talent he then performed at the Royal Variety Show and returned for Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions in 2019.
Continually strengthening his reputation, Richard toured the UK in 2017 with Power of Imagination, starred in his show, Operation Magic, on ITV and embarked on a 2021/22 tour titled Escape. He has since diversified his offerings, to supply virtual magic shows that utilise his corporate audiences’ branding and logo.
Richard joined the British Army in 2010, before progressing to the Parachute Regiment and Household Cavalry. He also spent a year at the Royal Military School of Music. Following his BGT victory, Richard took part in the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations, performing as a bandsman in the Trooping the Colour.
Richard is a patron of Together for Short Lives, Scotty’s Little Soldiers and is an ambassador for The Royal British Legion. When he is not performing on West End stages, he regularly entertains British troops in war-torn countries.
