Alan Davies' big break into the mainstream came in 1997 when he took on the role of Jonathan Creek in the BAFTA award-winning BBC series of the same name. The show ran for five series and saw Alan’s character use his detective skills to solve ‘impossible’ crimes. Other TV credits include The Dog Rescuers, Show me the Funny, Hotel Babylon, Bob & Rose, Lewis and Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled. Since 2003 Alan has also appeared as a regular panellist on BBC comedy quiz show, QI, hosted by the inspirational Stephen Fry.
Alan has also appeared on the big screen, with appearances in the 2001 film Dog Eat Dog, the 2004 Roman Road and 2008’s teen comedy, Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging. Alan’s career began back in 1988 when he took to the stage performing stand-up, this led to him being named Time Out’s ‘Best Young Comic’ in 1991. Taking his comedy on the road, Alan most recently took his storytelling and witty remarks on tour in 2013 with his successful and much-anticipated tour, Little Victories. Alan Davies is also a published author with his autobiographical novel, My Favourite People and Me published in 2009.
