The most profitable Danish band ever, selling an estimated thirty-three million albums and singles. The group was created in 1989 and went on to achieve crossover success around the globe in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Aqua released three albums starting with Aquarium in 1997 followed by Aquarius in 2000 and Megalomania in 2011. Although European pop acts don't normally succeed in a variety of countries the Aqua's singles managed to reach the top ten position in a number of countries such as Japan, United States, Canada, Australia and Brazil.
The group amazingly managed to top the UK Singles Chart with three of their singles. The band is made up of vocalists René Dif and Lene Nystrøm, Guitarist Claus Norreen and keyboardist Søren Rasted. During the split of the band Dif, Rasted and Nystrøm all achieved success on the charts as soloists. Norreen stayed within the music industry and went on to remix other artists material. On 26 October 2007 thousands of fans were over the moon as Aqua announced a reunion tour and released a compilation album featuring new material.
This was followed by the release of their third album, Megalomania. A hugely successful group that has gained multiple achievements throughout their run from winning the IFPI Platinum Europe Awards three times in 1997, 1998 and 2000 to winning the GAFFA Awards in 1997. In both 1998 and 2001 Aqua won the Danish Music Awards and also the World Music Awards. If you're looking for a blast from the past then Aqua are the perfect addition.
