The Notes are a stylish musical duo available for all types of private, corporate and public events. They play a wide range of hits, from classic to contemporary, spanning 60 years. Penny Nicholls is one half of this dynamic duo. Penny has always been a musician and started playing the piano at three years old. Her keen interest and natural talent helped her achieve a Grade 8 with distinction in piano and voice from the ABRSM at the age of 13. Penny began writing her own music and was soon given the chance to perform at prestigious venues such as Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, the Royal Albert Hall in London and the Notre Dame Cathedral. Penny took to music full time and is currently writing and recording her own music as well as studying for a BMus Honours degree in Music Performance at ACM.
Penny has honed her craft and now supplements all of this with stunning live performances. Rob Webster is the other part of the duo and can be seen on stage playing the guitar. Rob picked up the guitar at the age of twelve and soon began performing professionally. He toured extensively with various cover bands at the age of 16. Two years later, Rob was headhunted by New York’s Winstanley College Choir to perform at three concerts in the USA. Rob continued to master the guitar, playing across the North West in a function band as well as a Queen tribute band. Rob has recently graduated with a distinction in guitar performance from the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford.
He draws inspiration from music greats like Pete Green, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Brian May and can be seen emulating their legendary talent on stages across the country. Together, this duo plays classic songs like ‘Georgia On My Mind’, ‘Summertime’, ‘Embraceable You’, ‘Johnny B Goode’ and many hit songs from Elvis Presley and The Beatles. The Notes also play songs made famous by Adele, Amy Winehouse, Beyoncè, Bruno Mars, Emeli Sandè, Enrique Iglesias, James Blunt, James Morrison, Jessie J and many more. The Notes are a stellar act and are also available as a four-piece, five-piece or seven-piece live band to suit your needs. As a duo or a larger group, they have become firm favourites at corporate events and have played for the likes of 45 Millbank, British Superbikes, Croma and the Midland Hotel in Manchester. The Notes are a band who are as amazing live as they are on paper.
