Chris Purchase started comedy in 2009 on a local radio station in his native Milton Keynes. Writing and performing a successful Sunday morning sketch comedy show, Chris was asked to perform at a charity comedy show. Chris and his cohort were only supposed to support the MC and professional comics with a 20-minute set but three days before the event, the professionals and MC pulled out. Chris was not one to shy away and wrote another 20 minutes of comedy to perform to over 100 people. The night was a complete success and Chris helped raise £400 for Cancer Research.
Thrown in at the deep end Chris learned to swim very quickly and rose to compete in a number of competitions. Chris has been a finalist on What’s On Magazine Best Comedian for 2016, 2017, and 2018. Along with this, he has also won the Laugh Factory’s International Joke of the Year 2017. He was recently handpicked to support the famous Reginald D. Hunter on tour providing this burgeoning comic with a wealth of insight into the professional game.
Chris’ style of comedy is unique combining observational comedy with cultural satire and light-hearted anecdotes. He doesn’t pull any punches either and even described his most recent sell-out tour ‘Distracted’ as containing some hot topics and popular news items. When not performing stand-up, Chris keeps his act sharp running two comedic podcasts. Gods and Sods is a high-concept interview-style podcast in which he interviews mythical figures about modern events. His first episode saw Chris interview Zeus about the pitfalls of modern dating. His second podcast takes a political angle. Entitled Agenda Reassignment, the podcast takes a political party’s policy, pushes it to the nth degree, and imagines its comedic effect 30 years in the future.
