Born in London, Danny Foster grew up listening to the legends of Lionel Richie, Marvin Gaye, The Rat Pack, James Brown, and Luther Vandross. Inspired by these icons of the soul scene, Danny often sang and was discovered on a family holiday to Tenerife. Since then, he has performed 1000s of shows mastering the craft.
2001 saw Danny audition for ITV’s Popstars earning him a place in the pop phenomenon Hear’Say. His amazing voice and electric smile won over the judges and fans alike with Paul Adam of Polydor A&R commenting:
“Danny Foster has one of the most powerful vocals ever heard.”
Along with Myleene Klass, Suzanne Shaw, Noel Sullivan, and Kym Marsh, Danny achieved incredible success. Signed to Polydor Records, their debut single ‘Pure and Simple’ went straight to number one on the UK Singles Chart. A cover of the band Girl Things, ’Pure and Simple’ sold over half a million copies and spent several weeks at the top of the charts.
Their debut album, Popstars, was released at the same time topping the UK with over 300,000 sales in the first week. The album featured their debut single as well as covers of ‘Bridge over Troubled Water’ and ‘Monday Monday’ alongside original tracks. The album was certified platinum, stamping Hear’Say firmly into the record books.
Danny toured with the band on a mammoth 36-stop arena tour and even performed with soul legend Lionel Richie on ITV’s “Hear’Say, It’s Saturday!”. Danny considers this a personal milestone and a real vindication of his talent.
Danny has gone on to perform at several high-profile events including The Royal Variety Performance, Top of The Pops, Party in The Park, and The Brit Awards<.
As a solo act Danny created and founded Danny Foster & The Big Soul Corporation. This sensational soul revue act tours the country performing all the timeless hits of the soul and Motown scene. Backed by professional dancers and supported by Victoria Goddard, Danny’s act is a spectacle. The big stage atmosphere and powerful performance make this the ideal entertainment for corporate events and arena shows.
