The multi-award winning group are best known for their many hits and chart toppers including 1989 Back to Life (However Do You Want Me) which became a UK number one and a US top five. Another popular hit was Keep On Movin which reached number five in the UK and number eleven in the US.
Keep on Movin was released in March 1989 featuring Caron Wheeler, the single became a world-wide success selling over one million copies in the United States. Only a month later, the group released a number one charts album called Club Classics Vol.One, this sold over four million copies worldwide. The success of Soul II Soul only grew as they release their next single Back to Life (However Do You Want Me) which charted at number one on the UK Singles chart and also won multiple awards.
In 1989 following the departure of Doreen Waddell and Rose Windross from the group, Soul II Soul welcomed Marcia Lewis. Lewis became the lead vocalist on the single Get a Life which charted at number three on the UK Singles Chart and sold sixty thousand copies in the UK.
The group has had huge success throughout their career which has seen them nominated for five BRIT Awards and five American Music Awards. In 1990 the group impressively won two Grammy Awards for Best R&B Performance following both songs Back to Life and African Dance. The same year they won a further three awards at the Soul Train Music Awards for song Keep on Movin.
