DJ Ironik has enjoyed a successful career as a Grime, Hip Hop, UK Garage and R&B artist. Otherwise known as DJ Ironik, James Christian Charters performs DJ sets under the stage name, as well as being a talented producer and rapper. Considered one of the most important cross-generational artists, DJ Ironik is renowned for putting Grime on the map and has since sold over a million records. Nominated for Best Newcomer and Best UK Act at the MOBO Awards, DJ Ironik is available to hire for a range of headline DJ sets – guaranteed to entertain audiences of all ages.
Aged 20, Ironik was signed to Asylum Records – a subsidiary of Warner Music Group, releasing his first big hit Stay With Me (Everybody’s Free) which went to number five on the UK charts. He later released I Wanna Be Your Man and his debut album No Point in Wasting Tears. Later signing with BPM Entertainment and RU Listening, Ironik went on to work with Chipmunk and Sir Elton John on the song Tiny Dancer (Hold Me Closer) which charted at number three. Ironik has also supported Cascada on their UK tour, The Perfect Day tour, and re-released his album in early 2009.
In recognition of his talents as a rapper and DJ, Ironik has claimed nominations for the 2008 MOBO Award for Best Newcomer, the Best Music Video at the 2008 Urban Music Awards, Best Male Music in Film at the Screen Nation Film & TV Awards and the 2009 MOBO Award for Best UK Act. Since then, Ironik has mentored some of the biggest names in British urban music, such as Tinie Tempah, Wiley and Chip. He now performs a range of DJ sets at some of the hottest music festivals of the modern music scene, including Glastonbury and T4 On The Beach. He has also performed at the MOBO Awards, the National Movie Awards, the O2 Arena, the iTunes Festival and in an exclusive performance for The Queen at Buckingham Palace.
Returning to music in 2018, Ironik released his new album Truth Be Told, which has achieved over 2.3 million streams. Boasting over 100k followers on Twitter and 58 million views on YouTube, Ironik has plenty more success ahead of him. In 2022, Ironik is releasing his highly anticipated EP Home, and is continuing to perform headline DJ sets at the hottest festivals across the globe.
