Inner City is an American electronic music group which was formed in Michigan most know for hits such as ‘Good Life’, ‘Big Fun’ and ‘Do You Love What You Feel’. The group originally consisted of producer and composer Kevin Saunderson and vocalist Paris Grey. Now in a new era, Kevin’s son, Dantiez, has joined as a full time member and the group is regularly performing at major clubs and festivals around the globe, spreading the joyous sound of the music they create.
Kevin is renown as one of the Belleville Three, a trio of high school friends who invented the Detroit techno sound. Known for their early dancefloor pop music, during the 80s and 90s the group had a total of 5 number 1 hits on the US Billboard dance chart and cemented their name as one of the most recognisable bands in the world. The group also experiments combining the genres of techno, jazz and swing beats. In the early 90s the band brought in Tommy Onyx to be the band leader for their live shows and he subsequently wrote the hits ‘Hallelujah’, ‘Fire’ and ‘Bad Girl’. Many of these early songs have are fit for both the underground, and commercial success thanks to the unique combination of Detroit techno’s rhythms and pop’s upbeat melody. This undoubtedly contributed to the band selling over 6 million albums worldwide.
In 2017 it was announced that Kevin’s son, Dantiez, became a permanent member of the group. Now the group is on a mission to become an influential group of the future, not just the past, with the aim to shape the sound of today’s music for the next generation. With a sound like no other, Inner City’s music uplifts its listeners and will continue to do so now the group is in a new era. In recognition of the band’s incredible achievements, in 2018 the band was named the 69th most successful dance artist of all time by Billboard magazine.
