A Michelin star chef, Jean-Christophe has been dubbed the ‘nation’s favourite chef’ and won multiple awards throughout his career. An owner of several restaurants and the Novelli academy, Jean-Christophe has also enjoyed an extensive media career, working with leading broadcasters in the UK and abroad. Available for private events he brings a wealth of experience as a public speaker and events host, with his passion for engaging everyone in attendance, even those that would not describe themselves as a foodie. He also hosts cooking demonstrations, passing on his expert knowledge and provides educational talks in schools.
He started his career at the age of 14 and by 19 was the private Head Chef to Elie de Rothschild. He moved to England in 1983 and by 1991 had achieved his first Michelin Star as Chef Patron at the Gordonton Mill. Another Michelin Star followed in 1994, this time as Head Chef at the Four Seasons hotel in Park Lane. In 1996 he set up his own restaurant, Maison Novelli. The success of his first venture saw him open more UK based restaurants, followed by Cape Town’s five-star Relais et Chateaux and Moulin de Jean in Normandy. His most recent restaurant named Novelli opened at City Quays in Belfast. Since opening his own restaurants he has earned his third and fourth Michelin Stars, became a 5/5 AA Rosette Chef, named AA Chef’s Chef of the Year, and won the prestigious Egon Ronay Dessert of the Year. He has also launched his own cooking school, which has been named in the Top 25 Cookery Schools in the World. The Novelli Academy provides him with the perfect opportunity to pass on his expertise and host popular courses, demonstrations, and corporate entertainment. He also makes appearances at culinary events around the world.
Jean-Christophe has graced TV screens in the UK appearing on Hell’s Kitchen, The Jonathan Ross Show, This Morning and Culinary Genius amongst other shows. He has also made TV appearances abroad on Top Chef USA, Chef Academy USA, and judge of the final of Top Chef UAE. Most recently he beat the ‘hunters’ on Channel 4’s Celebrity Hunted, raising huge amounts of money for Stand Up To Cancer. He has also published several cookbooks. Away from cooking and the media, he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Arts from the University of Bedfordshire in 2007 and in 2021 he was awarded an honorary MBE.
