With over 50 years of stand-up comedy experience behind him, Jimmy Tarbuck OBE is a veteran in the world of live comedy. The Liverpool comedian first began to make a name for himself in the 1960s, and it wasn’t long before he found his way into the hearts of some of the most discerning comedy fans in the country.
One of Jimmy’s breakthrough appearances saw him perform at the London Palladium in 1963. Enjoying his first real taste of success in the public eye, Jimmy soon began to see opportunities in the broadcasting world. A year later, he came to host his very own ITV television show, It’s Tarbuck ’65!. Following his successful first appearance at the London Palladium, Jimmy also began to host Sunday Night at the London Palladium.
Jimmy soon became a popular fixture on a bevvy of quiz shows, including Tarby’s Frame Game, Winner Takes All and Full Swing. As his career progressed, Jimmy continued to stay true to his origins in comedy. He began to focus more on his stand-up comedy work, hosting a number of variety shows and comedy events including Live at the Piccadilly and Live from Her Majesty’s. His love for variety performances also saw him feature as part of the Royal Variety Performance.
In recent years, Jimmy has continued to build upon his career as one of the most famous comedians in the country today. In 2016, Jimmy took his hilarious comedy show across the country, teaming up with fellow comedy legend Des O’Connor. Together, the comedy duo toured an array of notable venues, making appearances at Leeds Grand Theatre, the Bournemouth International Centre and the Bristol Hippodrome. Jimmy’s incredible ability to get the crowd laughing saw his comedy show achieve vast popularity. As a result, Jimmy continued to tour the country the following year, making further appearances at venues such as The Hexagon, Blackpool Opera House and the Newcastle Theatre Royal.
Jimmy’s commitment to his craft has seen him continue to amuse audiences across the country, most recently touring alongside the legendary Kenny Lynch. His distinctive accent and his original comedic style have won him fans all over the country, making him the perfect performer for corporate events and a variety of other occasions.
