Max George is a singer, model, and actor famous for being the lead singer of the popular boy band, The Wanted. He auditioned for the band in 2009, beating thousands of contestants, before becoming a member of the talented five-piece band. The Wanted released their debut single, All Time Low, in 2010, which reached number one on the UK Singles Chart and was shortly followed by their second single, Heart Vacancy. The second single reached number two on the UK Singles Chart, demonstrating their popularity in the UK. The third single, Lose My Mind, peaked at number 19 on the UK Singles Chart and in 2014, after reaching over 12 million record sales worldwide, the band disbanded.
Initially beginning his career as a footballer, Max’s career was cut short after he sustained an injury, preventing him from progressing further. He went on to join Avenue in 2005 to launch his singing career. The group would appear on The X Factor in 2006, progressing to the final 12. Following their appearance on the show, they receive a contract deal with Crown Music Management and were awarded an album deal with Island Records. Avenue would release their debut single, Last Goodby, in 2008, which peaked at number 50 on the UK Singles Chart. In 2009 the band disbanded, and Max went on to join The Wanted.
In addition to singing as a band member, Max has also enjoyed a successful solo music career. After The Wanted disbanded in 2014, Max was offered a solo deal with Scooter Braun and would go on to release his first solo single, Barcelona, in 2018, attracting 4.5 million streams on Spotify. In 2019 he released his second single, Better On Me, and later returned to The Wanted, when they regrouped in 2021.
Alongside his music career, Max is a successful model who serves as the Face of Buffalo denim’s fall line. He has also made several TV appearances, including Bear Grylls’s Mission Survive in 2015 and more recently on Strictly Come Dancing in 2020 alongside Dianne Buswell. Moreover, his debut acting role came in the sixth season of the hit American show, Glee, where he held the role of Clint.
