Oxide & Neutrino are an English DJ and MC garage duo from London, consisting of Alex Rivers, known as Oxide, and Mark Osei Tutu, known as Neutrino. As key members of So Solid Crew, they played a defining role in bringing UK garage into the mainstream. Their breakthrough single Bound 4 da Reload, famously sampling the theme from Casualty, entered the UK Singles Chart at number one in April 2000 and sold over 200,000 copies, becoming one of the most recognisable garage tracks of its era.
Before their chart dominance, the duo built momentum on the underground scene, reportedly selling over 20,000 white labels and earning credibility within pirate radio and club circuits. 'Bound 4 da Reload' also incorporated samples from Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, adding to its cultural impact. They followed this success with 'No Good 4 Me' featuring Megaman, Lisa Maffia and Romeo, which reached number six in the Christmas charts, and 'Up Middle Finger', which won a MOBO Award for Best Video. Tracks such as 'Devil’s Nightmare' and 'Shoot to Kill', the latter appearing in Ali G Indahouse, further cemented their reputation as UK garage innovators.
Beyond their own releases, Oxide expanded into production, working on Lisa Maffia’s debut album First Lady and contributing to other projects within the scene. In 2013, the duo appeared in the documentary 'Rewind 4Ever The History of UK Garage', highlighting their importance in shaping the genre’s legacy. In January 2021, they signed a new record deal with New State Music and released' Where Do We Go' featuring Leo the Lion, demonstrating their continued relevance. More recently, they have released new material, including 'What R U' and their fourth album '2nd Chance'.
Oxide & Neutrino are hired for festivals, club nights and nostalgia-driven events because they bring authentic UK garage credibility combined with proven chart success. Their catalogue of number one hits and MOBO-winning tracks guarantees crowd recognition, while their DJ and MC chemistry ensures high energy, interactive performances that resonate with both original garage fans and new audiences discovering the genre.
