Paul Akister hails from Lancaster where he started his career as a pub singer travelling around the country. He harboured ambitions of making the big time and entered the X Factor in 2013. He made it to the Judges’ House with stellar performances of John Lennon’s ‘Jealous Guy’, Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get it On”, and Otis Redding’s ‘These Arms of Mine’. At the Judges’ House he was grouped with other male soloists Danny Dearden, Andrea Faustini, Jordan Morris, Jake Quickenden and Jack Walton.
Mel B chose Paul and served as his mentor teaching the burgeoning talent the skills required to play on some of the world’s greatest stages. Paul learnt everything from dancing to singing and crowd engagement and went on to perform well in the latter stages of the competition. He won hearts and minds during the live shows performing soulful covers of Ella Henderson’s ‘Ghost’, Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes’ “If You Don’t Know Me By Now”, Ottis Redding’s ‘Try a Little Tenderness’, and Meat Loaf’s ‘Bat Out of Hell’.
He was unfortunately knocked out before final but a plea from Mel B saw him return as a performer on The X Factor Live Tour. The dedication of the singer was astounding as he lost three stone to return to the pop idol image he once had. The show was equally special for Paul as he got to perform for his hometown at the Manchester shows exclaiming: "I’m so excited to be part of The X Factor Live Tour. Performing in my hometown arena is a dream come true."
A genuinely brilliant solo artist, Paul has the voice, experience, and charm to wow audiences at any event. His soulful voice is the ideal addition to corporate events, wedding receptions, themed club nights, and black tie dinners. His extensive repertoire features hits spanning several decades and his down-to-earth attitude makes it easy to fall for this lovable singer. Don't miss out on a chance to book Paul as your event entertainment to inspire your crowd.
