The Weather Girls are best known for their iconic hit, "It’s Raining Men", released in 1982. The track became an instant classic, topping the US Dance Chart and achieving global success. Its infectious energy and empowering message turned it into a universal anthem that still fills dance floors today. Alongside favourites such as “Can U Feel It”, the Weather Girls secured their place in music history as pioneers of feel-good, high-impact disco and pop.
Originally formed as "Two Tons O' Fun" in the 1970s, the duo featured Martha Wash and Izora Armstead, who first rose to prominence as backing vocalists for Sylvester. Their evolution into the Weather Girls in the early 1980s marked a defining moment, launching them into international stardom with the release of "It’s Raining Men".
Following Martha Wash’s departure, Izora Armstead carried the group forward, later joined by her daughter, Dynelle Rhodes. After Izora’s passing in 2004, Dynelle continued the legacy, firmly establishing herself as the driving force behind the Weather Girls today. As the longest-standing member of the modern line-up, Dynelle honours the group’s heritage while bringing renewed energy to their performances.
Today, Dynelle Rhodes performs as the Weather Girls alongside a rotating line-up of powerhouse vocalists, including Dorrey Lin Lyles and Darnita Williams. Together, they deliver the same bold vocals, charisma, and uplifting spirit that made the group famous, ensuring that the Weather Girls’ legacy continues to thrive for new audiences while staying true to its iconic roots.
