Johnny McEvoy

Folk Singer

Irish folk singer and solo artist Johnny McEvoy’s pedigree goes way back to the 1960s when he used to perform in a duet called the Ramblers Two and once supported The Rolling Stones. But it is since going solo that his career really took off and he is now one of the most in-demand artists of his genre.

Johnny’s first big hit was the Irish folk ballad ‘Mursheen Durkin’, which stayed at Number 1 for three weeks. This was followed by three more chart toppers ‘The Boston Burglar’, ‘Nora’ and ‘Long Before Your Time’.

As an accomplished songwriter in his own right, Johnny has seen many of this songs recorded by other artists, including the classics ‘Michael’, ‘Going To California’, ‘The Ballad Of John Williams’,  ‘Never Learned To Dance’ and ‘The Ballad of Anne Frank’.

Recently the subject of a TV documentary, Johnny Heyes has released his first studio album in 10 years called ‘Basement Sessions’ which he describes as “some of my best work yet”. A truly international folk singer, Johnny has played at the great Carnegie Hall in New York, performed throughout the USA, Canada and Europe and recently embarked on a tour of Ireland.
