About Freddie Mercury

Commonly regarded as one of the greatest performers the music industry has ever seen, Freddie Mercury was an English singer, songwriter and producer. Famed for his flamboyant style, elaborate stage persona and four-octave vocal range, Freddie was the mastermind behind iconic hits like Killer Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody, Somebody to Love, We Are the Champions, Don't Stop Me Now, and Crazy Little Thing Called Love.

As a member of Queen, Freddie was given a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001, the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003, and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2004. Just before his death, Freddie and his band were awarded the Brit award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music, in 1990. Freddie continues to be a symbol of self-expression, as an AIDS sufferer his legacy has shaped how the world views the disease and has money for research through tribute concerts dedicated to Freddie.
