The choir is led by LMA Creative Director Steph Wallace Carr and currently consists of fourteen members made up of students from LMA, the Liverpool-based specialist media and performing arts college. From current musical and theatre students to recent graduates the choir boasts an impressive and talented group of people.
They were initially recognised following one of their flash mobs at Liverpool ONE in 2016. The choir was created for a surprise flash mob as requested by Steph's friend Carl Gilbertson who wanted to surprise his wife on their tenth year anniversary and so the choir performed Bruno Mars' song Just The Way You Are. Not only was his wife brought to tears but the performance also became a youtube sensation reaching over fifty million views resulting in the choir shooting to internet fame.
However in 2017 the wow-factor group broadcast their talents once again on BBC One's Pitch Battle. The show invites thirty of the best choirs and vocal groups in the UK to battle it out on a variety of vocal challenges and impressively LMA Choir finished in second place delivering some unforgettable show stopping performances.
In 2018 the LMA Choir yet again took to the stage to wow not only The X Factor judges but also 5.7 million viewers at home. In their first audition the group performed a pitch perfect cover of This Is Me from the Greatest Showman soundtrack. Instantly impressing all four judges the group sailed through to the six chair challenge. They brought people to tears with their delivery of Just The Way You Are and Purple Rain however unfortunately lost out to Leeds Contemporary Singers.
From smashing an electric mixture of musical theatre numbers to pop, rock n roll, contemporary and deep soul the group can deliver almost any type of genre to a level that simply tops most other performers. Their voices draw out emotions from every audience member and leaves them with chilling goosebumps from the passion and impact their stunning vocals have, they effortlessly fill any room with their beautiful voices and instantly raise the mood. The perfect addition to an event or function looking to stand out.
