Paul Young is famed for his talents as a singer and songwriter, formerly the frontman of Q-Tips, Streetband and Kat Kool & the Kool Cats. Having also enjoyed a successful solo career, Paul continues to tour the world with the band Los Pacaminos and has performed with famed artists such as Ian Dury and Pink Floyd. With a music career spanning over four decades, Paul has entertained several generations with his musical talents and continues to be a popular musician to have perform at events today.
After playing bass in bands at school, Paul first became the lead singer of Kat Kool & the Kool Cats before joining Streetband in the 1970s. After nine successful years, during which Paul claimed a spot on the Top 20 UK Singles Charts, Streetband eventually disbanded. After disbanding, a collection of the members of Streetband reassembled to form Q-Tips, going on to tour the UK and achieve recognition in the pages of famed NME. After releasing two albums and seven singles with Q-Tips, Paul left the band and signed a solo contract with Columbia Records.
With some of his famed singles including Come Back and Stay, Every Time You Go Away, Love of the Common People and Everything Must Change, Paul has also enjoyed a successful solo career. Having also covered many famous songs, such as Wherever I Lay My Hat by Marvin Gay, Paul reached no.1 in the UK Singles Charts and no.1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Other prominent awards of Paul’s include winning the 1985 Brit Award for the Best British Male and the 1986 Brit Award for Best British Video. He has also performed at various prominent events, including performing at the Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute, The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert and singing the British national anthem before the England Vs Germany semi-final Euro match in 1996.
Having formed the band Los Pacaminos in 1992, Paul continues to perform worldwide with the band and he has released the albums Los Pacaminos and A Fistful of Statins. Paul and the band have also released an EP and live album, amongst touring and recording across the globe. Having also performed at Live Aid and on the Do They Know Its Christmas? track, Paul Young is famed worldwide and a fantastic addition to a range of events.
