Born in London, Tony first formed a band in 1976 called The Cut. Consisting of Tony Hadley, Steve Norman, John Keeble, Michael Ellison, and Gary Kemp the group were a tight bunch sharing the same grammar school. The young musicians took time to find their sound experimenting with other band names, compositions and styles before eventually settling on Spandau Ballet. The group would go on to enjoy international success with hits like ‘Gold’, ‘True’, and ‘Through the Barricades’. Recognised for their sweet sound and resounding success Spandau Ballet took home eight UK top 10 albums and several singles chart icons.
On top of this, the band took home a BRIT Award for Technical Excellence and performed at Live Aid. Their development of the new romantic era laid the groundwork for future electronic bands and inspire thousands. After splitting from the band Tony pursued a solo career signing to EMI. He released his first album The State of Play in 1992 before forming his own record company, SlipStream Records. Tony saw early success with the release of the single ‘Build Me Up’ and its subsequent feature in the film When Saturday Comes. Tony impressed many with solo work and went on to tour Europe alongside Joe Cocker, Dani Klein, Guo Yue, and Paul Michiels.
Returning from this tour Tony made appearances on the stage, including Jesus Christ Superstar, as well as collaborations with the likes of Alice Cooper, Brian May, and Paul Young.
