Having formed in 2003 at the BRIT School for Performing Arts & Technology, London, the band soon gained themselves recognition as one of the most thrilling live acts around. The band’s musical prowess has earned them recognition within the media, with Entertainment Weekly tipping the band as one of six up and coming UK indie bands. Their positive reception in the media was also continued internationally, with USA Today dedicating part of their article on British music acts to the group. Following the band’s positive reception within the United States, the band later went on to perform at one of the country’s most iconic festivals, SXSW.
The group’s second studio album, 2009’s Wild Young Hearts, further fuelled the band’s success on both the national and international stages. The album’s second single, Don’t Upset the Rhythm, achieved widespread attention through its feature in the advert for the Mazda 2. Taking a creative approach to their music videos, the band’s single Saturday Night was famously compiled using footage from over one hundred mobile telephones. From 2009 onwards, the band’s music continued to be widely used for advertisements.
The Noisettes’ track Don’t Give Up was featured in an ad campaign by footwear brand Timberland. During the following year, a remake of one of the band’s most appreciated tracks, Sister Rosetta, featured as part of the soundtrack for the film Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. The band’s energetic live performances have seen them grace stages across the globe. Having extensively toured Europe alongside acts like Bloc Party and Muse, the band has made regular appearances at some of the best-loved festivals. This includes playing festivals like Coachella, Wireless, Reading and Leeds Festival, Get Loaded In The Park, V Festival and Glastonbury Festival.
In addition, the band’s international popularity also saw them perform at a number of festivals throughout Africa, including Malawi’s Lake Of Stars festival and Zimbabwe’s Harare International Festival of the Arts.
