The London-born singer and songwriter first came to the public eye competing in the X Factor in 2009. Olly won the hearts of the public and the judges when he reached the final of the series. He was beaten at the last hurdle by Joe McElderry but his popularity and skill saw him establish a loyal fan base and garner success from his exposure. Signing to RCA Records, Sony Music UK and Columbia Records Olly was sighted as a talent like no other. His amazing singing voice allowed Olly to master the genres of pop, R&B, rock, and electronic music; creating a truly mercurial sound.
His debut single entitled ’Please Don’t Let Me Go’ was released in 2010, reaching number one on the UK Singles Charts and received a Gold certification from the British Phonographic Industry. His second single was also successful reaching number four on the charts. Following these releases, Olly released his much-anticipated debut album, Olly Murs in November of 2010 entering the UK Album Chart at number two. The album went on to sell over 600,000 copies to great acclaim and a double platinum certification.
Olly released his second album In Case You Didn’t Know the following year reaching the top spot on the UK Album Chart with two singles repeating the success on the UK Singles Chart.
Success came naturally to Olly with similar performances from his third album Right Place Right Time and fourth Never Been Better. Both albums featured chart-topping singles such as ‘Troublemaker’ and ‘Up’. ‘Up’ featured the American actress Demi Lovato and reached number four on the UK Singles Chart. The solo artist released his fifth album 24Hrs in 2017 with a sixth album already in the works.
This talented musician has yet more strings to his bow with a catalogue of television work to his name. He most notably presented The Xtra Factor between 2011 and 2012 and has been a judge on The Voice UK since 2018.
